Electric Superintendent Chris Mercer

Electric Superintendent Chris Mercer joined the Jackson Electric Department in 1986 and has been Electric Superintendent for 17 years. Chris graduated from Mary Persons High School in 1976 and has a certificate in Industrial Electricity from Macon Tech. Before joining the Jackson Electric Department he worked as an Assistant Supervisor at Juliette Hydro-electric Generators in Juliette, GA. Chris served as a board member for Electric Cities of Georgia for 6 years and is also a past Board Member for the Meag Distribution System. Chris lives in Monroe County and has been married to his wife Kathy for 29 years, and has 2 children Keith, and Cristi. When not working, Chris enjoys hunting and fishing. Chris says the City of Jackson is a great place to work; “We have some good employees that work here. It is a pleasure to work for the Mayor and Council; they are the back bone of the city.” Chris’ goal for the Jackson Electric Department is to improve the electric system so it can take the City into the future and better serve the citizens of Jackson.
