|
Mayor Charles J. "Charlie" Brown is the cornerstone of Jackson's progress. He was raised in a family rich in the history of public service to Jackson and its citizens. Since taking office in 1994 he has helped lead Jackson to a new prosperity with new and more modern equipment for all departments to serve the citizens better. Also Jackson enjoys a balanced budget with a one-year operating surplus. To say the least, Jackson's government has become financially solvent under his leadership; all of this while maintaining Jackson's status of no city property taxes. Mayor Brown has extensive experience in all types of government operations having served as a County Commissioner for many years before becoming Jackson's Mayor. Mayor Brown has been an advocate for the Salvation Army Can-a-thon and Empty Stocking fund and every year you can find him leading the City employees in the annual drive.
