Depicting Nation’s Population Ahead of 2010 Census
Orange, Fla., joins the growing list of ‘majority-minority’ counties

Orange County, Fla., the nation’s 35th most populous county, is one of six counties to have become majority-minority between 2007 and 2008, according to state and county population estimates by age, sex, race and Hispanic origin released today by the U.S. Census Bureau. Majority-minority is defined as more than half the population being of a group other than single-race, non-Hispanic white.

Clean Community Challenge

The Georgia Department of Community Affairs invited the City of Jackson to participate in the Governor's Clean Community Challenge program (CCC). This program encourages local governments to develop a comprehensive approach to litter prevention and helps provide the tools necessary to address litter. GREAT NEWS: At the City of Jackson's Council meeting held on June 17, 2008, the Council voted to participate in the CC program.
